Deceitful Pride

Let us be wary of our position, power and wealth that we become blinded and boast that we acquired it by our own ability, wisdom and might.

Pride will creep in and it poisons the heart and the mind. It is deceitful; making a man look down on all things and people - everything. A proud man only sees himself - his gifts, needs, efforts, and problems - he is at the center. Pride turns a man away from God - his beauty, sufficiency and sovereignty. Eventually, a proud man will become too blinded to even see love and contentment.

How then do we kill Pride? We look to Jesus, He lived a life full of profound humility. Jesus could have been born as a king or a ruler; in a place with very elegant and majestic surroundings. But He was born in a manger, in the lowliest of circumstances. For He came not to be served but to serve and and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:28 ESV

"even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Live a life of humility, following Jesus as the perfect example. For God exalts the humble (James 4:10). Remember that our talents, gifts, resources and everything came from God - our ultimate source & provider (Phil 2:13). We turn to Him, praise and glorify His name for the blessings we have and those that are yet to come.

Proverbs 29:23 ESV One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
